Head Hunter

Jazz standards, from the recording outward.

A standards research project for finding recordings, comparing versions and keeping listening close to the study of the tune.

Stack

Next.js / TypeScript

Structured as a searchable web workflow.

Lens

Version-centric

Useful when the recording matters more than the tune title alone.

Audience

Jazz musicians

For repertoire study that starts with listening.

Problem

Standard tune references often flatten different recordings into a single entry, which is not how musicians actually listen or learn.

Emphasis

  • Specific takes rather than generic song pages.
  • Metadata that stays useful in practice.
  • Lighter curation to surface strong recordings faster.

Current role

Head Hunter sits between listening, research, and repertoire study, with the interface shaped to support those habits directly.

This page should eventually show the search and comparison workflow once the interface is ready to make public.
